This Product Manager role will be responsible for supporting our GLP-1 in-market products within the OptumRx product & strategy portfolio. The Product Manager is responsible for understanding the portfolio strategy, market needs, product value levers and all aspects of product delivery.  Day to day responsibilities may include key external vendor contact, operational process execution and optimization, interface with clients & client management to present product concepts, acting as subject matter expert to promote our products both internally and externally, and analysis of and tracking of product KPIs. Additionally, this role requires cross-functional collaboration to remediate operational pain points or other constraints that may be impacting client satisfaction and member experience.  

This role will interface with OptumRx functional partners, vendor partners, customers, sales and client management teams to support product function and ensure product competitiveness in the market. Skills the role must leverage include: strategic thinking, understanding client and consumer needs, quantitative analysis, collaboration, decision making and leading in ambiguous circumstances. This role is expected to be self-directed, while partnering effectively with operations, IT, marketing, finance, sales, reporting, and other functional areas to lead cross-functional teams to manage and incrementally improve existing market products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead product management for products with market adoption across multiple segments. Monitor product performance, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, execute on product roadmap and serve as subject matter expert
  • Serve as key day-to-day contact for external vendor partners. Identify opportunities to enhance vendor offerings for improved performance or client satisfaction
  • Identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational problems outside own team
  • Support and troubleshoot client implementation of vendor programs as needed. Identify process opportunities for immediate remediation and continuous improvement
  • Routinely collect and analyze product performance data (e.g., market; financial; operational) to inform product roadmap. Responsible for presenting opportunities to enhance existing product performance
  • Identify and execute problem solving for key client and/or member pain points as they arise on the day-to-day. Identify and implement opportunities to systematically remediate
  • Support documentation and standards for existing product operational processes to ensure consistency and efficiency
  • Support sales and account management for key client activities
  • Understand market and consumer needs, as well as the competitive landscape
  • Collaborate with internal leaders and external partners to gain an understanding of their business needs and adapt product strategy, priorities, and business plans accordingly

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of “non-technical” product management experience with a business focus including execution of product roadmaps and driving near and long-term strategies within the healthcare industry
  • Experience achieving goals in a matrix environment, working collaboratively and cross functionally with peer group and internal/external business partners to overcome obstacles to achieve project results
  • Experience communicating and influencing business partners, such as executive presentations and client meetings
  • Experience creating Power Point decks & slides, presenting go-to-market information
  • Intermediate experience in Excel including, data analysis, data summarization, visualization and manipulation (using V-Look up)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Product Management experience within PBM, Pharmacy or Pharma
  • Experience with ORx systems such as: RxClaim and PAS to troubleshoot issues & extract data
  • Vendor management and/or client facing account management experience
  • Clinical consulting experience
  • Optum Rx operations experience, i.e.: client implementations, prior authorizations, benefit operations management experience

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
