This Product Director role will be responsible for business incubation and product development of assigned products in the Optum Rx product portfolio. As Optum Rx sources, vets and validates pharmacy care services and PBM product and business offerings, this role is critical in business case development, early-stage product design, development and execution of proofs of concept, market listening, and representation of products and concepts with all levels of the organization.
This role will interface with Optum Rx functional partners, customers, sales and client management teams to design, develop and commercially launch product solutions for new and existing customers across multiple market segments. Skills the role must leverage include strategic thinking, understanding patient and client needs, quantitative analysis, collaboration, decision making and leadership. This role is expected to partner effectively with operations, IT, marketing, finance, sales and other functional areas; and lead cross-functional teams to develop and launch new or enhanced products.
This role will initially focus on leadership of a new product concept in trend management for GLP-1s, and will evolve to management of further in-market product roadmaps and net new large scale development efforts.
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Define and execute against product roadmaps, and drive near and long-term future enhancements that increase product value over time
- Champion proofs of concepts and pilots in growth areas, living a test & learn mindset, and developing a pipeline of scalable opportunities for Optum Rx
- Collect, analyze and present market data (e.g., internal performance, client, competitor) in order to identify new product opportunities for the business
- Build business cases with high level of financial acumen
- Drive and manage high-quality execution across organizational lines; manage cross-segment projects and initiatives that require problem solving, relationship building, influencing and analyzing
- Serve as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders on specific marketplace and product topics
- Support sales & account management for key client activities
- Collaborate with internal leaders and external partners to gain an understanding of their business needs and adapt product strategy, priorities, and business plans accordingly

Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years non-technical product management and/or development experience within a large matrix organization
- Experience in health benefits business (Health Plan, PBM, health services, consulting, or similar)
- Financial acumen, with experience including market sizing, modeling, business case development and/or P&L accountabilities associated with product initiatives
- Experience evaluating market intelligence, competitive landscape, customer insights, and value proposition design to build new product strategies
- Experience defining and executing against product roadmaps
- Experience achieving goals in an ambiguous and matrixed work environment
- Experience working collaboratively to influence and drive initiatives forward
- Experience developing and delivering formal presentations to senior leaders
- Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in start-up, corporate new ventures, innovation team or other entrepreneurial work
- Strategy or M&A experience
- Healthcare technology experience
- Experience leading people
- Working knowledge of the PBM business
- Intermediate proficiency or higher in Excel

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
