The Sr Product Manager for Digital Prior Authorizations & Notifications reports to the Product Director of Provider Digital Service & Strategy and has responsibility for product development responsibilities for direct connect digital capabilities between United Healthcare, providers and internal provider operational areas, including, but not limited to provider call operations staff. The Sr Product Manager is responsible for establishing and driving deliberate, measurable improvements that significantly change the way we work with our internal business partners and external provider constituents.
This position will lead from the front and design the future of healthcare today by delivering innovation that revolutionizes the health care experience.
This position will be responsible for the long-term Product vision, while at the same time managing the day-to-day activities, aligned to the Provider and Provider call interactions Capacities.
The Sr Product Manager will have authority to make decisions about product functionality, need, end user experience, etc. This position will work closely with the Provider Operations teams, UHC Operations teams (i.e., Claims, Enrollment, Member Call, Clinical), Network Management, Marketing / Digital and Line of Business (E&I, M&R and C&S) product teams to ensure that the experiences that we are crafting align with the overall Product Capability roadmap for Povider Operations. Responsibilities include capturing and synthesizing the voice of the customer, who are affected by the decisions made for the Products supported by this role, while focusing on value generation and enabling organizational product / membership growth and medical cost savings for E&I, M&R, C&S and Optum Products (i.e., Optum Care).
This position will drive strategic advancement of UHC enterprise capabilities that include, but are not limited to:
Provider Self Service: includes maintaining and enhancing our Prior Authorizations & Notifications digital channels, including API connections

Primary Responsibilities:
- Creation of a strategic vision to translate real-world Provider, Member and UHC Operations problems into engaging products and services
- Own relationship with Functional Area SMEs. Conduct discovery on potential capabilities, quickly assessing the degree of need for the members and businesses we serve, and deliver an objective recommendation to drive prioritization & investment decisions
- Help articulate the future state vision for a prioritized capability and define the strategy and roadmap to get there. Includes activities like defining / understanding cost benefit analyses, further refining level of detail and understanding from discovery phase, defining minimum viable product and iterative releases, creating consensus on the path forward
- Works with internal and external partners to determine the ideal design, and works to develop and deploy the capability for the market
- Drive business work within the Agile process, sharing Business vision
- Define and prioritize Capabilities and Features that will be groomed and developed by Product Development teams
- Own the product at a Capability level, using Roadmap and Initiatives as a guide
- Manage and lead Product Owners and managers to ensure user story alignment across multiple agile teams

Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of direct people management experience, including building and developing teams
- 3+ years of product management / product development in an organization delivering software in a Web / SaaS environment
- 3+ years of Experience being successful in an Agile environment
- Experience in building teams, hiring and mentoring top talent while managing budgets and resources for projects, with a focus on delivering value and impact
- Healthcare Ops experience
- Mastery of product lifecycle process and experience working with agile software delivery tools (CA Agile, AHA, etc.)
- Experience leading and coordinating efforts across matrixed organizations
- Experience in development and communicating Roadmaps of activities to achieve the Product Strategy
- Experience prioritizing work efforts across matrixed teams to manage the most effective delivery of deliverables on the roadmap
- Experience in communicating product requirements across various types of delivery teams, such as: Analytics, Software Engineering, Operations Users, and more
- Proven strategic and analytical leadership experience with executive presence in high-level meetings
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects and competing priorities in a dynamic environment while maintaining solid relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Experience directing others to resolve highly complex or unusual business problems that affect major functions or disciplines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Agile Certification/s
- Pragmatic Institute Certification
- Healthcare experience
- Ability to achieve goals in a matrixed environment
- Ability to work collaboratively and influence others

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
