We are seeking a senior marketing communications specialist for the end-to-end project management of communications and associated initiatives that help educate members about their Optum Rx pharmacy benefits. This role will support the development and deployment of member onboarding communications while balancing business needs and client requirements. This position requires solid client-facing project management skills and experience leading and executing projects across multiple channels. This role will identify and initiate process improvements and engage cross-functional teams to meet deliverables and deadlines. The senior marketing communications specialist will also build relationships with internal stakeholders and support a consumer-centric approach in the development and execution of member communications across all lines of Optum Rx business. 

 

Additionally, the ideal candidate must be incurably curious and demonstrate an unlimited drive to learn our complex PBM and pharmacy businesses. The candidate’s primary focus will be getting to know our clients and members’ needs and then translating that knowledge into actionable member communications.  Candidates should thrive on proactively seeking new insights, identifying creative solutions, seeing multiple projects through to completion, and measuring results.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a resource for marketing team, clients, and implementation teams by presenting onboarding communication strategies, answering client questions, creating customized plans, and ensuring adherence to creative and regulatory guidelines
  • Monitor feedback on communications and address questions or concerns as appropriate; follow up with internal and external stakeholders as needed 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define campaign and material messaging needs while aligning to the needs of the business, client, and member experience best practices  
  • Help identify, initiate and report on process improvements that streamline the fulfillment of deliverables and enhance bandwidth for new project streams; document processes and educate team members on new systems 
  • Manage project expenses—gather estimates, obtain approvals, track costs against budget and submit invoices for payment,  as needed
  • Collaborate with clients, internal marketing communications teams, and other stakeholders to develop and execute comprehensive marketing communications strategies and detailed tactical plans
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of marketing and communications project management experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated possession of a professional demeanor and comfort with presenting at all levels to both external and internal organizations
  • Proven outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, speaking and writing clearly and positively
  • Well organized with demonstrated ability to successfully manage a range of projects, think outside of the box, and understand complex organizational processes and programs
  • Desire to work in a dynamic environment with proven experience managing the expectations of a wide variety of constituents

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cross-functional team experience in a healthcare environment or with a creative agency 
  • Experience in a highly-matrixed organization 
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills 
  • Self-managed but proven ability to work both independently and with a cross-functional team 
  • Demonstrated ability to report on and manage multiple projects effectively 
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
