Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Consumer Product and Experience Evolution, the Vice President of Experience Data and Reporting will be responsible for leading the strategic vision and execution of our organization’s internal products, third-party data acquisition strategies, data transformation and visualization, and AI/Machine Learning initiatives on our internal Marketing Data Platform (MDP). This leader will also oversee the reporting strategy, including the development and delivery of innovative data visualization solutions and advanced analytics reporting for all of UHC, partnering closely with each UHC line of business.  The Vice President will manage a high-performing team of Product Owners, Product Managers, Capability Managers, and Business Analysts, driving alignment across Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Solutions Delivery teams. This role is accountable for creating multi-year product strategies, driving innovation, maintaining operational excellence, and influencing senior executive leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:

          Strategic Leadership & Vision:

  • Develop, articulate, and execute multi-year strategies for internal data products, third-party data acquisition, data transformation, advanced analytics, visualization solutions, and AI/Machine Learning capabilities on the Marketing Data Platform
  • Translate strategic business priorities into clear marketing data and technology use cases and actionable product roadmaps
  • Advocate and communicate the technology and experience data strategies across senior executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders

    Capability & Product Management:

  • Lead teams of Product Owners, Product Managers, Capability Managers, and Business Analysts to define, prioritize, and execute product features, user stories, and capabilities aligned with strategic objectives
  • Oversee comprehensive product lifecycle management, including concept definition, business case development, piloting, testing, scaling, launch, and ongoing enhancement
  • Establish standards and processes for documenting requirements, ensuring clarity, quality, and consistency in delivery to engineering teams
  • Collaborate closely with solution delivery and engineering leaders to clearly define requirements, manage dependencies, and proactively address potential gaps or collisions

    Reporting & Data Transformation:

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced reporting and visualization capabilities to provide actionable, insightful, and timely information to internal stakeholders and LOB reporting teams
  • Drive innovation in data transformation strategies, ensuring reporting solutions are scalable, performant, and aligned with enterprise standards
  • Champion the use of AI/Machine Learning to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and impact of marketing analytics, reporting, and visualization solutions

    Financial & Vendor Management:

  • Accountable for managing a multi-million-dollar portfolio budget, ensuring financial health, accurate forecasting, and strategic allocation of capital investments
  • Manage capital accountability for technology and experience initiatives, influencing strategy and decisions on technology investments
  • Establish and nurture strategic relationships with key technology and data vendors, ensuring quality service delivery, cost optimization, and continuous improvement

    Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a key member of the Product Management Committee (PMC), ensuring inbound demand is strategically prioritized, feasible, and aligned with business objectives
  • Serve as a critical liaison between product, engineering, solutions delivery, and marketing teams, ensuring alignment and proactive communication of dependencies and risks
  • Build and foster solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, business unit leaders, strategic vendors, and industry partners

    Innovation & Industry Leadership:

  • Drive a culture of innovation, rapid testing, and continuous learning within the product and capability teams
  • Represent the organization in industry forums, conventions, and summits, building valuable connections, staying abreast of industry developments, and bringing external insights to strengthen internal capabilities
  • Continually evaluate market trends and competitor offerings, proactively identifying opportunities for product innovation and differentiation

    People Leadership & Culture:

  • Create and sustain a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, growth mindset, accountability, and openness
  • Develop solid talent pipelines, leveraging training, job rotation, mentorship, and career development plans to prevent burnout and ensure employee engagement and retention
  • Maintain high employee engagement and satisfaction, regularly actioning

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree solidly preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in product management, data management, analytics, capability strategy, enterprise reporting, or related technology domains, with at least 8 years at senior leadership levels (Director or above)
  • Proven executive-level experience managing complex, multi-year strategies for internal data products, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence/machine learning implementations, reporting, visualization, and large-scale data transformation programs
  • Extensive experience directly leading agile product teams, capability managers, product owners, and business analysts, with demonstrated expertise in agile methodologies and product lifecycle frameworks
  • Demonstrated strategic business acumen, including proven ability to shape and influence enterprise technology roadmaps, strategic business cases, and capital investment strategies at executive leadership levels
  • Proven accountability for managing and optimizing multi-million-dollar portfolio budgets, forecasting financial outcomes, and influencing senior executive investment decisions
  • solid executive presence and communication skills, including proven capability to effectively present strategic plans, influence senior leadership decisions, and advocate complex technology and digital strategies to C-suite executives and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in establishing and managing strategic partnerships with external vendors, industry leaders, and technology providers to drive performance improvements, innovation, and cost efficiencies
  • Expertise in AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, data visualization, and modern data platforms; demonstrated experience leading the implementation of these capabilities to drive measurable business outcomes
  • Proven systems thinker with the ability to proactively identify downstream impacts of strategic decisions across large, matrixed organizations; skilled at aligning and integrating complex capabilities and dependencies across multiple business units and technology platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to drive significant organizational change, articulate clear vision, create alignment, and inspire collaboration and execution across diverse teams
  • Demonstrated commitment to building, developing, and empowering senior leaders and cross-functional teams; extensive experience effectively managing performance, succession planning, talent development, and organizational design
  • Ability to successfully navigate ambiguity, complexity, and rapid change with an entrepreneurial mindset and solid decision-making skills
  • Deep understanding of UnitedHealthcare (UHC) lines of business, Medicare & Retirement (M&R), Employee and Individual (E&I) business operations, or similar large-scale healthcare enterprises solidly preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge and thought leadership in healthcare industry trends, experience health platforms, and emerging technology solutions including AI, Machine Learning, predictive analytics, and data visualization
  • Proven experience launching and scaling enterprise-wide internal data products and technology platforms, demonstrating measurable improvement in ROI, adoption, operational efficiencies, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Executive-level credibility and experience engaging and influencing C-suite executives, external industry leaders, and strategic partners
  • Extensive experience with government reporting, regulatory requirements, and analytics

The salary range for this role is $191,800 to $364,800 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
