The Senior Medical Assistant reports to the Center Administrator and provides routine patient care within his/her level of training and functions under the direction/guidance of the clinical supervisor and/or the physician in accordance with relevant state statutes. In addition to providing patient care at the appropriate skill level, the Senior Medical Assistant also assists in the training and onboarding of Medical Assistant staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to superior customer service, including quality and care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
- Represents the Company in a professional manner, following all Company policies and procedures
- Uses, protects, and discloses patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
- Ability to obtain CPR certification within 90 days of employment (Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross)
- Advanced knowledge of basic Medical Assistant principles and practices. Performs all duties at the expert level within the scope of a Medical Assistant’s scope of practice
- Solves routine problems on own; works with supervisor to solve more complex problems
- Leverages advanced technical and/or clinical skills to support, assist, train, and onboard other Medical Assistants within the clinic environment
- Greets patients in courteous and polite manner. Rooms patients; prepares patient(s) for examination
- Under direction and supervision of physician, administers medications, administers immunizations, EKGs, ear washes, and other patient services. Assists in simple office and minor surgical procedures. Assists with the education of the patient and/or family as directed by the physician
- Performs venipucture under the direction of a physician or advance care practitioner
- Solid phlebotomy skills
- Contacts patients as needed to give testing results instructions from the physician and scheduling of necessary visits
- Conducts all front office functions as requested
- Answers telephone inquiries and triage calls
- Maintains patient medical records in accordance with Company policy and maintains proper assembly of medical records
- Responsible for all laboratory duties including drawing, spinning, prepping blood for testing and maintaining appropriate logs
- Maintains equipment and adequate stock levels of consumables in laboratory area
- Acts as liaison between all independent lab services and the center
- Monitors OSHA compliance of center laboratory
- Assist in inventory management and ordering of supplies
- Enters all test requisitions and encounters in the computer
- Assumes primary responsibility for back office clinical safety protocols. Creates and maintains an environment that supports infection prevention
- Actively serves as a committee member or champion for various health & safety initiatives within the clinic. Dedicates up to 25% of one’s time to clinic initiatives as assigned by clinic leadership
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must have consistent, punctual and reliable attendance
- Ability to travel may be required

Required Qualifications:
- High school graduate, GED or equivalent
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross)
- 3+ years as a certified Medical Assistant, or a cumulative total of 5+ years of both certified and non-certified Medical Assistant experience (with 2+ of those years being certified)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience as a lead, or in training other Medical Assistants in a clinic setting
- Experience in championing or leading change initiatives in the clinical environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to evaluate patient needs, administer prescribed medications, assist physician with examinations and treatment, prepare and apply dressings, and instruct patients in health measures and self-care as instructed by the physician
- Ability to document and report findings and observations
- Ability to perform EKGs
- Ability to provide on-site emergency treatment within scope of practice
- Ability to complete a color blindness test
- Must be computer literate. Advanced, demonstrated proficiency with electronic health records
- Ability to interact and verbally communicate effectively with patients and all levels of personnel in a professional, courteous and effective manner with excellent customer service skills
- Ability to multi- task in a high paced environment with good organizational skills
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to work with general guidance
- Knowledge of medical equipment and maintenance
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; assuming a leadership role until higher levels of care arrive on scene
- Ability to read, speak, write, and understand the English language fluently
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.74 to $31.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
