The Editorial Communications Manager will support the UHG, Optum and UHC communications team in driving and executing enterprise-wide editorial content and best practices, and help ensure the highest standards of quality and consistency across all platforms. 

If you are located in Minneapolis, MN, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Senior Editorial Director in developing and implementing enterprise editorial campaigns and strategies as needed (e.g., Vital Points series, EOY Video, Investor Conference, etc.), handling responsibilities ranging from plan development and writing, to working with SMEs on content approvals, to supporting community engagement on internal social posts related to campaign content
  • In partnership with Senior Editorial Director, support editorial meetings to create alignment, efficiencies and consistency across UHG, Optum and UHC, sharing editorial and channel best practices, metrics and insights to inform and encourage world-class communications that engage key internal and external audiences
  • Lead development and execution of Your Dose, a newsletter for all UnitedHealth Group employees, working with SMEs, designers and approvers to deliver necessary and compelling content to employees
  • Partner with Insights and Channels team to create and socialize regular reports showcasing content performance to inform future editorial planning and continually elevate the quality of our content
  • Participate in continual improvement efforts for our enterprise channels
  • Actively champion best practice usage of Opal across UHG Communications, partnering with Opal contacts to make changes as needed, driving adoption and consistent use of Opal across Communications; includes support of contract renewal process as needed
  • Create and maintain channel strategy resource document for enterprise communications team outlining best practices, benchmark data, content/editorial guidance, etc.
  • Serve as a trusted back-up for Senior Editorial Director in managing UHG Comms editorial planning as needed 
  • Stay informed on emerging trends and best practices in Communications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience communications or marketing experience in a corporate environment 
  • Experience in developing content tailored to specific audiences and channels 
  • Experience with editorial and communications planning across multiple channels and audiences 
  • Proven excellent writing and editing skills 
  • Proven excellent writing and editing skills 
  • Proven excellent project management skills – from development of strategies through execution
  • Proven to operate with discipline and urgency while managing multiple projects
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity
  • Local to Minneapolis, MN office and willing to go onsite as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Healthcare industry 
  • Experience with Opal 
  • Knowledge and / or use of Associated Press Stylebook

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
