Email Developer Manager is responsible for leading a team of email developers in building and executing email campaigns. This person will partner with internal marketing and operations stakeholders to deliver best-in-class email programs that leverage data to customize communications for our consumers. This person will possess the knowledge of and have great passion for technology and innovation and seek to manage their team through consistent improvements in email and other digital channels. This position will be responsible for overseeing email development supporting Medicare & Retirement, Insurance Solutions, Community & State, and Individual Exchanges, understanding their data and roadmaps. Team dynamics is important to our success, and this person will emulate our United Culture in their interactions as a manager of the team.
In addition to maintaining current development processes, this person will help identify and roll out new processes and enhancements, geared towards improving email development and workflow. This person will be an SME and work with stakeholders to ensure understanding of email best practices and design, and will need to build solid working relationships both inside and outside the Email Operations team.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Participate in campaign planning sessions, advising on production capability, capacity and delivery timelines
- Serve as the main production lead for all new email and SMS campaign and project requests
- Understand the goals of a campaign or project and provide consultative solutions to stakeholders for increased campaign effectiveness
- Guide and mentor developers in the identification of business requirements, functional design, process, prototyping, testing and defining support procedures for solutions requested and implemented
- Lead weekly workload and status reviews and manage capacity across developer team
- Lead email designer that collaborates with brand team to ensure that all current and new templates are consistent, compliant and up-to-date with ISP technology and accessibility standards
- Oversee email and SMS design and functional consistency across the consumer journey, including alignment with all digital channels
- Subject matter expert for front end development operations, platform best practices and campaign effectives
- Oversee high-level creative and coding coordination across all acquisition and member email and SMS campaigns
- Provide second level of QA testing to ensure HTML/AMPscript coding accuracy
- Provide second level of test rendering across multiple email clients (Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) and ISPs (Outlook, Google, Hotmail, etc.) on multiple devices (desktop, tablet, mobile)
- Troubleshoot email issues including templates, programs, and list segmentation
- Look for opportunities for improvement in development and design in order to evolve the email and SMS program
- Conduct routine audits of automations and system integrations to ensure accuracy and ongoing performance

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with marketing, digital, and email experience including databases, content management and data-driven direct marketing
- 3+ years of experience leading or managing people
- 3+ years of experience analyzing marketing performance and developing scalable processes.
- 1+ years of experience with Salesforce CRM and marketing cloud or Adobe Journey Optimizer
- Advanced or higher level of proficiency in an Email / SMS design and deployment application
- Advanced or higher level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in Journey Builder, HTML, SQL, AMPscript, SSJS, or similar scripting languages, with 4+ years of practical experience. You would feel comfortable with explaining how email code is structured and provide examples of work previously completed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare experience
- Medicare experience
- Familiarity with Federal and State regulations, CAN-SPAM compliance regulations
- Adobe products (Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Analytics, and Adobe Target)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
