The Account Director functions as a key leader within the account team for Optum’s most significant partnerships with provider systems. Working in close collaboration with the Client Relationship Executive (CRE) and other account team members, you will serve as the primary point of contact to the client, and Optum internal operations and shared services teams, for performance and delivery across a broad range of services, primarily revenue cycle management. The successful candidate must be passionate about driving value and performance improvements for Optum and our partners, effective at working in a fast-paced environment and confident in their interactions with a broad range of clients in executive and leadership roles.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify risks, issues and opportunities related to the Optum/client partnership and develop, communicate and implement program/project risk/issue management plans and strategies (e.g. IRAAD management of issues, risks, action items, assumptions and decisions) with project team and stakeholders
- Oversee Optum’s involvement in client-led EPIC conversions including program management, change management, providing updates to the client
- Facilitate relationship governance program to maintain alignment between client’s business objectives and Optum services
- Cooperate with client in administering all Statements of Work, including by facilitating Changes to be addressed through the Change Control Process and overseeing implementation of Changes agreed upon by the Parties through the Change Control Process
- Provide the primary client interface and escalation point to resolve issues raised by the client with respect to Optum’s performance of the services, and oversee remediation plans for underperformance
- Act as the primary liaison with the work management functions, including change management, project management, problem and risk management and management of any contractual or performance issues
- Meet and discuss Optum’s performance requirements as they relate to client’s strategic business planning (e.g., business and architecture, strategic options, business assessment, business operating plans)
- Review, monitor and actively engage in the planning and implementation of Changes and
Projects, including oversight and cohesiveness of transformation plans across all services - Collaborate with Optum shared services leaders (Finance, Vendor Management, Compliance, Human Capital, etc.) in overall performance and management of the services

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working in managed services, including delivery and account management within the healthcare industry
- Experience collaborating across a matrixed business and operations environment
- Experience working with project stakeholders/business leadership team and presenting project status reports on overall project outcomes and issues
- Familiarity with large outsourcing contracts and delivery
- Proven large account relationship management
- Proven advanced presentation, written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated success building and evolving relationships with stakeholders (internal and external) including Director, VP and C-Suite level leaders
- Demonstrated ability to balance both the client’s and service provider’s objectives and priorities to achieve win-win outcomes
- Willing and able to travel up to 35% of the time to client sites
- Ability to work standard day hours 8am-5pm in Pacific Standard Time (PST) with flexibility as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- EPIC Certification
- Experience with EPIC conversions or implementations
- Experience in Revenue Cycle Management, including front end and back end
- In-depth knowledge of Optum service delivery model
- Proven application of change management methodologies
- Demonstrated self-starter with strong planning, organization, analytical and problem-solving skills

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
