This Product Manager role will be responsible for new product development activities of assigned products in the OptumRx product portfolio.  Scope of work includes early-stage product ideation and design, development of new products, development, and execution of proofs of concept, and product lifecycle management. The intent of this work is to respond to the market with urgency and, accordingly, a portfolio of product opportunities that differentiate OptumRx.

A focus will be developing and executing a product strategy that maximizes profitability while meeting customer needs and market trends. This role will interface with OptumRx functional partners, customers, sales, and client management teams to design, develop and commercially launch product solutions for new and existing customers across multiple market segments. Skills the role must leverage include strategic thinking, understanding patient and client needs, quantitative and financial analyses, collaboration, decision making and leadership. This role is expected to partner effectively with operations, IT, marketing, finance, sales and other functional areas; and lead cross-functional teams to develop and launch new or enhanced products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute against product roadmaps and drive near and long-term strategies that increase product value over time
  • Understand market and consumer needs, as well as, the competitive landscape
  • Constantly collect and analyze performance data (e.g., market, financial, and operational) in order to enhance existing products and identify new opportunities for the business
  • Drive and manage high-quality execution across organizational lines
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders on specific marketplace and product topics
  • Support sales & account management for key client activities
  • Draft proposal responses that meet the RFP requirements and showcase the product offering in a way that highlights the strengths and unique selling points
  • Work with cross functional teams including sales, marketing, legal, and finance to ensure that the proposal meets all requirements and aligns with the company’s overall strategy
  • Collaborate with internal leaders and external partners to gain an understanding of their business needs and adapt product strategy, priorities, and business plans accordingly
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product performance and success and using data analytics to identify areas of improvement and optimization
  • Develop and execute the product strategy based on financial analysis and market research to ensure product-market fit and profitability
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost optimization, and profitability improvements

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in a “Non-Technical” general management, product management and/or product development role
  • 3+ years of experience executing defined strategy and building/managing products throughout the end-to-end lifecycle to meet business objectives and/or product development goals
  • Experience working in cross functional teams and influencing without authority to achieve objectives
  • Experience articulating and presenting product solutions to internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Health Care industry experience
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturer, pharmacy, PBM, or health plan experience
  • Experience navigating internal functional teams within a large matrix organization
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Specialty drug (channel management, pharmacy, buy and bill)
  • Experience with health care providers in the Specialty Medication space

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
