We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Director to lead our growth initiatives and drive revenue generation specific to our digital behavioral health (BH) portfolio. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of developing and executing successful business development strategies in a B2B environment. This role will be responsible for identifying new payer market opportunities, building strategic partnerships, providing payer market feedback to business partners, growth teams, and leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies aligned with the company’s overall goals
- Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, potential partnerships, and emerging trends
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decision-making
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of business development initiatives
Lead Generation & Pipeline Management:
- Build and maintain a robust payer sales pipeline by identifying and qualifying high-potential leads within the payer market for Behavioral Health solutions
- Develop and manage lead generation campaigns using various channels, including networking, events, digital marketing, and referrals
- Work closely with marketing, event sponsorships to ensure solid market presence for the BH portfolio
- Oversee the lead qualification process and ensure a smooth handoff to the sales team
- Utilize CRM systems to track and manage leads and sales activities
Market Representation:
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows
- Build and maintain a solid professional network
- Act as a thought leader and subject matter expert in the industry both internally and externally to help drive needed feedback within Optum

Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field, with a proven track record of success in a B2B environment
- Proven solid understanding of sales processes, lead generation strategies, and pipeline management
- Proven excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills for both internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to build and maintain solid relationships with clients and partners
- Proven solid leadership and individual management skills. Must be a self-starter, ready to think outside the box and utilize all internal and external resources to achieve goals
- Demonstrated proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to navigate large, matrixed organizations to drive exposure to product suite and collaborate on key relationship holders across the enterprise
- Ability to travel up to 15%, including client meetings, tradeshows, internal meetings, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years within healthcare, including non-UHC payers
- Experience with behavioral health solutions and landscape, including how payers buy BH solutions, and existing market offerings

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
