Patient and Provider Solutions Team: The Optum Patient and Provider Solutions team utilizes Optum’s services and expertise to streamline market entry, overcome obstacles, accelerate product adoption, and build loyalty during the launch period. Our mission is to deliver market-leading solutions that enhance disease prediction, awareness, and knowledge, ultimately changing patient and provider behavior and improving disease management and outcomes at scale.

 

Role Overview: As a Senior Research Analyst, you will be part of the Clinical and Content Strategy and Development team within the Patient and Provider Solutions team. This team is responsible for leading research, synthesizing evidence, generating insights, and customizing content for each project’s disease state or strategy area. They provide content and strategy for new client proposals and oversee outreach teams supporting client programs. The team collaborates closely with the Client Solutions Implementation team to assist with client presentations and content strategy recommendations aimed at enhancing clinical care delivery, addressing care gaps, and improving quality of care. Additionally, the team supports the product team with subject matter expertise on current and emerging areas of focus for new products.

 

Reporting Structure: The Senior Research Analyst will report to the Director of Clinical Content and Strategy and Development, Patient and Provider Solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead Research Initiatives: Conduct in-depth research on complex disease areas, including clinical trial data and real-world evidence studies. Distill findings into concise summaries for life science client solutions and presentations to doctorate-level researchers and clinicians
  • Create Healthcare Visuals: Develop detailed healthcare visuals based on research findings and present them to internal teams and external clients
  • Articulate Research Insights: Write clear and informative summaries of research findings to address specific client problems in collaboration with life science clients
  • Innovate Solutions: Use research insights to propose innovative solutions for client problems, presenting these ideas through visuals and written formats
  • Summarize Clinical Guidelines: Identify and summarize current clinical guidelines for various diseases, collaborating with the clinical lead to create digestible formats for physicians and researchers
  • Regulatory Summaries: Understand and summarize medical and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements, state health plan policies, and industry standards for internal and client use
  • Manage Research Activities: Plan, organize, and manage clinical and non-clinical research activities for the team
  • Inform Product Development: Leverage clinical research to inform client needs and collaborate with product teams to drive new product development
  • Data Analysis: Analyze and explain complex medical record data, claims data, and other clinical and non-clinical data to clients
  • Engagement Management: Work on multiple engagements simultaneously, acting as the subject matter expert in various disease areas
  • Documentation Management: Manage documentation for client engagements from ideation to project completion
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather in-depth information about customer needs
  • Client Support: Assist the project director in anticipating and resolving client needs and issues
  • Matrix Management: Function effectively within the matrix management system to align project priorities
  • Competitive Landscape Understanding: Demonstrate an understanding of the competitive product landscape in life sciences

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in clinical and non-clinical research with the ability to summarize complex research for internal and external teams
  • 2+ years of direct client consulting experience, leading research, presentations, and initiatives
  • 2+ years of experience in literature review methods to synthesize learnings
  • 2+ years of experience presenting research findings to various audiences, including physicians, pharmacists, and researchers
  • Experience working across multiple functional areas (eg, product, compliance, data management, legal, sales, marketing, clinical teams)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio)
  • Proven ability to consistently meet objectives and maintain focus
  • Ability to travel

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with researching healthcare guidelines 
  • Experience working in healthcare delivery
  • Experience working in Optum, UHG or UHC 
  • Experience working in life sciences research and strategy
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
