This position within UMR provides guidance and implementation support for federal and state of New York regulatory provisions and requirements associated with a Minimum Premium Plan or a non-ERISA self-funded plan sitused in New York. Federal regulatory requirements include but are not limited to the ACA, CAA, and MHPAEA. State regulatory requirements include but are not limited to regulatory activity and circular letters issued by the NY Department of Financial Services that impact Minimum Premium and/or non-ERISA self-funded plans. This position will have a high level of interaction with internal operations, sales and account management, and an external partner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance on enacted federal regulations and New York mandates impacting minimum premium and/or non-ERISA self-funded plans
  • Monitors proposed New York mandates to identify those that may be applicable to minimum premium or non-ERISA self-funded plans, third party administrators, or benefit coverage, and works with operations to document potential impacts
  • Leads implementation projects that ensure operational alignment with new or changed federal or New York regulatory requirements
  • Performs root cause audit and remediation for regulatory processes specific to New York mandates and City of New York plan design

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working in healthcare or health insurance environment
  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • Experience responding to inquiries from a variety of stakeholders (internal partners, leadership, external partners)
  • Solid working knowledge of the ACA, CAA, MHPAEA, and state benefit mandates
  • Intermediate or better proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint and Outlook
  • Proven solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an environment with multiple projects and target dates, maintaining high quality and quantity standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working at UMR
  • Knowledge of New York benefit mandates
  • Proven working in a regulatory or compliance role
  • Proven success in collaborating across a matrixed business and legal environment
  • Proven comfortable taking ownership and accountability for projects
  • Proven ability to work independently and to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
