Alexandre Rose is the first foreigner join the “Everyday LifeChanger”

UnitedHealth Group Brazil achieved a great prize last month, for the first time an employee outside of the USA was invited to join the “Everyday LifeChanger”, a UnitedHealthcare committee that honors fellow workers who make positive changes in the life of our clients. Alexandre Rosé, National Director of Clinical Services had the privilege to be the new nominee on “Everyday LifeChanger”.

Alexandre leads three thousand people divided in three subareas: Inpatient, Outpatient and Transitional Cares. The goal of Clinical Services is to guide our patient’s journey through the Amil Health System, making sure that everybody is in the right place at the right time receiving a treatment based on the best medical evidences.

Rosé faces many challenges trying to improve the processes of care coordination, managing treatments and coordinating procedures of family medicine, but his beliefs in our culture make a statement that we can achieve our main goals.

“Applying our principles changed my life, creating a positive impact in my productivity and in my decisions.” Our values also have influenced Alexandre to make better decisions for his team. “The key to changing lives is through the UnitedHealth Group culture,” says Rosé.

Alexandre Rosé, from medical coat to a tribute

Graduated as an urologist surgeon, it’s been 22 years working in medical assistance areas, the last 14 of them at Amil, as Managing Lead of refund processes and requests from clients. Now, as the National Director of Clinical Services.

Rosé believes in the power of “be here now” making every second precious in our mission to help people live healthier lives and making the health system better to everyone. Alexandre also believes that his actions today help more people than if he would work as a physician.

“As a physician I would impact a few hundred lives per months, but as a director of clinical services I can help more than 4 million people”, says Alexander.

Due to these reasons – and many others –, Alexandre was nominated as an Everyday LifeChangers at UnitedHealthcare, being the first person outside the USA to be asked to join the committee.

Integrating medical care

A few of our patients are considered “frequent users”, these patients show chronical health conditions that make them go to hospitals and clinics more often than regular patients. This population in Brazil has similar conditions to the ones seen in the USA, showing symptoms like heart diseases, asthma, diabetes and others.

Our efforts in managing this population helps to identify frequent users and dividing Amil members in risk groups, offering a better experience in health care, better results in and lower cost.

Amil was also the first company to implement a coordination of care integrated method. The program goal is to connect mental services in hospitals and clinics to the intensive care of mental illness.

“We are able to treat these patients. In the old days, we would say ‘We cannot put people with mental illness with other patients’… now we are showing that we can”, says Alexandre.

With Alexandre’s leadership, we are leading the way to improve medical conditions, integrating mental health and much more.
